In 2005, David Fulford was involved in an EU AsiaLink Funded MSc course run by University of Borås, Sweden, in association with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He supervised a student, O.P. Shah, doing a biogas project  in Mumbai, India.The Msc thesis was “Sustainable Waste Processing in Mumbai: Using the Nisargruna Technology”.
